Walt Disney International (WDI) is responsible for a wide range of Disney's
corporate activities outside the U.S, focusing on strengthening and expanding
the companies operations and building the Disney brand.
In February 2000, John Cracknell was appointed to the position of Country Manager
of Walt Disney International with responsibility for overseeing all Disney operations in
Australia and New Zealand.
WDI country managers work in concert with the international operations of Disney's major
business units, coordinating marketing and strategic initiatives in each territory and
thus ensuring that business opportunities are maximized across all business units locally and globally.
In Australia Walt Disney International aims to further build the Disney brand while consolidating all
the Australian operations under a coordinated leadership.
These business units include:
- Music - Walt Disney Records
- Theatrical Cinema - Buena Vista International
- Merchandise - Disney Consumer Products
- DVD - Walt Disney Studios Home Entertainment
- Attractions - Disney Destinations International
- Television - Disney Channel and Buena Vista International Television
- Internet - Walt Disney Internet Group
- Publishing - Disney Publishing Worldwide
The power of the Disney brand offers up many opportunities to increase brand consumer
relevance for our business and promotional partners. With these partners we work to leverage
opportunities that arise from working with the Disney business units within Australia.
Disney is committed to growth in Australia and we are continually looking to new opportunities
that will not only increase awareness of Disney brands but will also provide more opportunities
for consumers to experience the Disney Magic.
